{ The Harvest Begins }

Here is the bounty of summer potatoes my little 24 foot bed has yielded so far this season. Our late potatoes will be coming in a few weeks. I can taste the mashed potatoes and gravy with homemade meatloaf now!

Your potatoes look GREAT! Potatoes are my favorite food. I like any kind, prepared any way! (And my husband tries to eat low-carb. ;)) My grandpa always had huge gardens when I was growing up, but never grew potatoes...now I wonder why. Thanks for giving me food for thought and a conversation starter for talking with my mother.

Lisa,
Thanks for the kind words! Maybe your grandpa never grew potatoes because they're notorious for potato bugs. My raised beds have been a good thing. As a trained oral historian, I encourage those conversations between the generations. Now that my Mom is gone, I realize how many things I can no longer ask. Boil that kettle and have a wee chat! ;0
